Accessibility Statement
Last updated · 9 June 2026Effective from · 4 June 2026
Eatropolis is for everyone. We're committed to making eatropolis.co.nz usable by as many people as possible, regardless of how they read, hear, type, or move. This statement explains where we stand against the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA and how to tell us when something doesn't work.
Our commitment
We design the site so that:
- pages have a clear visible structure with headings, landmarks, and skip links;
- text has sufficient contrast against its background;
- interactive elements work with a keyboard and a screen reader;
- images carry meaningful alternative text;
- forms have labelled fields and clear error messages;
- motion respects the operating-system "reduce motion" setting.
Conformance status
We aim for WCAG 2.1 Level AA across the public site. Each push to production runs automated accessibility checks across thirteen routes on three browser engines and three viewports — any new wcag2a or wcag2aa violation blocks the deploy.
Automated tests cannot catch every barrier, so we also run manual keyboard and screen-reader passes before major releases.
Where we fall short
We are aware that:
- some long-form prose pages do not yet provide a "skip to main content" link beyond the top-level landmark;
- a small number of decorative dividers may be exposed to assistive technology in ways we are still refining;
- live event content on the day (food labels, signage) is the responsibility of participating chefs and may not all meet WCAG.
We are tracking these and will update this statement as fixes ship.
Reporting a barrier
If you find something that doesn't work for you, please tell us — your report helps us prioritise. Email info@eatropolis.co.nz with:
- the page or feature you were using;
- the device, browser, and assistive technology (if any);
- a description of what you expected to happen and what happened instead.
We will acknowledge your report within two New Zealand business days and tell you when we expect to resolve it.
Date and method of assessment
This statement was last reviewed on the date shown at the top of the page and is based on a combination of automated checks (axe-core in our CI pipeline) and manual evaluation. We review and update it for every significant release of the site.
